Akilah Bond '09 led a strong Hamilton College effort as the Continentals finished second at the Liberty League Championships held at St. Lawrence University on Feb. 11.

Hamilton ended up with 138 points, which was just 32 behind team champion St. Lawrence. Union College was third with 87.5 and Rensselaer finished fourth with 80.5.

Bond won the long jump (4.82 meters) and the triple jump (10.53). She qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships in the triple jump. The Continentals dominated both events as they placed four in the top six of the triple jump and three in the top six of the long jump.

Jen Orbaker '07 broke her own Liberty League meet record in the high jump with a winning height of 1.54 meters. Orbaker finished fourth in the triple jump. Jessica DeMichiel '08 won the pole vault by clearing 2.78 meters. DeMichiel captured fifth place in the shot put.

Rachel Bennek '07 finished first in the 800-meter run (2:26.04). Sarah Downey '07 was fifth in the 800. Liz Herring '08 won the 5,000-meter run (19:05.44). Kim Bauer '08 took third place in the 5,000 and the 1-mile run. Abby Jones '09 finished sixth in the mile.

Lauren Steates '07 finished second in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump. Kary Pardy '08 was fifth in the weight throw and sixth in the long jump. Danielle Massee '07 placed fifth in the triple jump. Amanda Salisburg '08 was right behind DeMichiel in second place in the pole vault. Allison Nichols '06 ended up fourth in the shot put. Kristen Selden '09 took third place in the 55-meter hurdles and the high jump.

Hamilton competes in the Cornell University Invitational in Ithaca, N.Y., on Saturday, Feb. 18.
