Muriel Schwinn ’13 took first place in the long jump and Hamilton College tied for ninth place in a field of 16 teams at the multi-divisional Colgate University Class of 1932 Invitational in Hamilton, N.Y., on Jan. 30.
 
Hamilton tied SUNY Cobleskill with 24 team points. Colgate took first place with a total of 94.50 points.
 
Schwinn recorded a distance of 5.09 meters to secure the only victory for the Continentals. Schwinn also finished third in the finals of the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.17 seconds. She broke her own school record of 8.25 seconds in the event. In the 200-meter dash, she ended up eighth with a time of 27.50 seconds.
 
Liz Wahl ‘10 crossed the finish line in 26.83 seconds in the 200 meters and took second place. Wahl's time qualified her for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III championships in March. Alexandra Americanos ‘10 took seventh place in the same event, finishing in 27.46 seconds.
 
In the 500-meter run, Caitlin Hult ‘12 took seventh place and posted a time of 1:24.72. Hult's time was third-best for all Division III athletes.
 
The Continentals next compete on Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Syracuse University Invitational at Manley Field House.
