
Allie Massaro '07 led Hamilton College with 12 kills and 16 digs as the visiting Continentals defeated SUNY Institute of Technology in three games in a non-conference match played in Utica, N.Y., on Oct. 10.
Massaro became just the fourth Hamilton player to reach the 1,000-dig mark for her career. She has 1,004. Massaro is also fourth in the program's history with 135 service aces.
Jasmine Jolly '10 smashed 11 kills for the Continentals (7-11 overall). Laura Belden '07 posted career highs with nine kills and six aces. Michelle Fisher '10 was credited with a season-high 24 assists and served four aces. Hamilton registered a team-high 16 aces for the match. Gwen Simmons '10 dug out a season-high 12 hitting attempts. Chelsea Halvorson '08 added nine kills and just one error in 15 attempts.
SUNYIT (0-24) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first game, but Hamilton scored 15 of the next 20 points and went on win 30-16. The Continentals prevailed 30-24 in Game 2 despite 12 attack errors. In the third and final game, Hamilton notched the first five points and led 15-7 before cruising to a 30-10 decision.
The Continentals travel to Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., for three New England Small College Athletic Conference matches this weekend. Hamilton plays Wesleyan University on Friday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m.
