
Hamilton College fell in four sets to visiting Utica College in a non-conference match played at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Sept. 16.
Ally Martella '13 paced Hamilton (2-7 overall) with a match-high 12 kills and three blocks. Amanda Cohen '13 posted 11 kills and Rachel Irizarry '12 led the defense with 19 digs. Cecelie Pikus ’13 was credited with 19 assists and served three aces. Alyssa Hopper ’13 added 14 assists and Jasmine Jolly '10 recorded 12 digs.
The Pioneers (6-4) won the first two sets, 25-19 and 25-17. The Continentals roared back to take the third set by a score of 25-20. In the fourth set, Utica scored the first two points and never trailed. Hamilton stayed close throughout the set and pulled within one point twice late at 22-21 and 24-23, but couldn't get over the hump.
Hamilton competes next in SUNY Plattsburgh's Cardinal Classic on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18 and 19.
