Professor of Economics Stephen Wu published a paper, co-authored with Lewis Davis of Union College, titled "The Taste for Status in International Comparison" in the August 2020 issue of the Journal of Happiness Studies,
The paper provides the first comparative analysis of the preference for social status across different countries. The results show that the taste for status is positively associated with individualism and per capita income.
