The collaboration led by: Susan Jarosi
With collaborators: Tina Hall; Penny Yee; and 72 others
We propose a Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) that will support collaborative solutions and foster a community around innovative pedagogy. A well-staffed Center will help intentionally evolve Hamilton’s open curriculum and its delivery at the pace of a rapidly changing world, allowing the faculty to continue to deliver a transformative liberal arts education. Imagine the educational opportunities we could provide for our students with this support.
The proposal was submitted for TRANSFORMATIONAL funding (no maximum) and was ranked high with respect to the other proposals based upon the evaluation rubric.
The committee applauds the proposers for:
- Developing a transformational idea that embodies the spirit of the What If initiative
- Envisioning an evolving curriculum in an increasingly *digital* world
The points that the committee recommends the proposers need to continue to develop include:
- Further development of a realistic, long term budget
- Looking at opportunities to expand/connect with the Innovation Center
- Collaboration with Education Studies to explore expansion of the Education program
From the committee’s perspective, the next phase of this project would include:
- Using the exploratory phase to inform the program and long-term budget
- Identifying a project manager
- Conducting an external review and researching other campus’ programs
- Attending the POD conference
The committee recommends funding the next phase of this proposal for $35,000 to move this idea forward for further aspirational design and development.
