Hamilton’s Office of Community Living offers students the opportunity to propose residential “special interest communities.” The funding requested through this proposal is dependent upon a successful student application for a World Languages Community (determined by March 2025) and would cover the co-curricular programming. Hamilton’s Language Center and language & culture departments would collaborate with the World Languages Community to provide programming open to the entire campus.
The proposal was submitted for TRANSFORMATIONAL funding (no maximum) and was ranked medium with respect to the other proposals based upon the evaluation rubric.
The committee applauds the proposers for:
- Collaborating among language departments
- Celebrating international days
- Redefining student spaces and residential life
The points that the committee recommends the proposers need to continue to develop include:
- Seeking more collaborators and developing student interest
From the committee’s perspective, the next phase of this project should include:
- Developing student interest and launching this pilot
- Hosting the 6 cultural events and workshops
The committee recommends funding the next phase of this proposal for $6,000 to move this idea forward for further aspirational design and development.
