Dear Hamilton Community,
This Friday marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Many in the Hamilton community, like many around the country, lost friends and family on that day. We remember the three Hamilton alumni who died in the attacks: Arthur Jones III ’86, Adam Lewis ’87, and Sylvia San Pio Resta ’95. A plaque in the College’s Chapel honors their memories.
In honor of the lives lost that day, we join the State of New York in lowering flags on campus to half mast.
Please join me and officers of the College for a silent walk at noon on Friday to bear witness to the tragedy and to remember the courage of the first responders and others who risked and sacrificed their lives.
So many have fought and died to secure our country’s commitment to liberty and freedom for all. May we remember on Friday, and in small daily moments of gratitude and love throughout the year, that our own lives are dependent on the courage and conviction of strangers.
I look forward to seeing many of you on Friday.
We will meet on the steps outside the Chapel at noon, walk to the labyrinth and then return to the Chapel.
With care,
Steve
