The Baker Family Scholarship

The Baker Family Scholarship, established in 2007 by Stuart D. Baker, Class of 1957, recognizes three generations of Bakers at Hamilton. It is awarded with preference given to students who have declared a concentration in economics.


Stuart D. Baker, Class of 1957, was born in New York City. At Hamilton he majored in economics and political science and was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. Following graduation, he enrolled at Columbia Law School, earning his LL.B. degree in 1960. He subsequently worked for Chadbourne & Parke LLP, becoming a partner in 1969 and chairman in 1993. In 2007, he established the Baker Family Scholarship in recognition of three generations of Bakers at Hamilton: Stuart Baker Jr., Class of 1929; Stuart D. Baker, Class of 1957; and Stuart R. Baker and David M. Baker, both members of the Class of 1983.
