The William J. Bowe Scholarship

The William J. Bowe Scholarship was established in honor of Dr. William J. Bowe, Class of 1937.


Dr. William J. Bowe, a dentist and a chairman of the New York State Dental Society, was born in Newburgh, New York. He graduated from Fonda High School and enrolled at Hamilton in 1933. Bill was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, the College’s Honor Court, and played basketball and baseball. He graduated in 1935 and earned his D.D.S. in dentistry from the University of Pennsylvania. Bill opened his practice in Fonda in 1940, and helped found the Antlers Country Club in addition to serving on the local board of education. He also served as President of the Mohawk Development Corp. His son, John D. Bowe, graduated from Hamilton in 1970. Dr. Bowe died in 1979.
