The Edward Johnson Dietz Memorial Scholarship

The Edward Johnson Dietz Memorial Scholarship was established by family and friends of Julia Grant Dietz, former Kirkland College Trustee,  in memory of her son, Edward.  It is awarded with preference given to women from the Syracuse, N.Y., area.

The Edward Johnson Dietz Memorial Scholarship was first established as a scholarship for Kirkland College in 1969, after the death of Edward Johnson Dietz, son of Julia and John Dietz.  Edward Johnson Dietz was killed in a car accident while his mother, Julia, was serving as a Trustee of Kirkland College. Julia Dietz is the daughter of Ulysses Simpson Grant III, grandson of the General of the Army and 18th President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant.
