The Willard B. Eddy, Sr. Scholarship

The Willard B. Eddy, Sr. Scholarship was established in 1979 by family and friends in memory of Willard B. Eddy, Sr., Class of 1914.


Willard B. Eddy, Sr. was born in Albion, New York. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from Hamilton in 1914, he began teaching in Plattsburgh, New York, and soon became a high school principal. He joined the Rochester Germicide Company as a chemist in 1918, became president in 1936, and was named chairman of the board in 1962. Willard also served as a Hamilton Trustee and was later named an Honorary Trustee. He died in 1979 at the age of 87. He is remembered especially for his "high sense of ethics and twinkling humor."  His son, Willard B. Eddy, Jr., was a member of the Class of 1941 and was killed in World War II.
