The O'Shea Family Scholarship

The O’Shea Family Scholarship, established by Julia Saunders O’Shea, Hamilton Class of 1987, and her husband Sean, is awarded with strong preference to first-generation college students who are in the top 10% of their class (or equivalent), who are U.S. citizens and who demonstrate significant financial need.

Prior to graduating from Hamilton, Julia "Julie" Saunders O’Shea planned to be a teacher, however, when she attended a lecture by a woman lawyer she was inspired to pursue a career in law. Following her graduation from Hamilton, she received a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and took a position with Dewey Ballantine LLP in New York City. She later joined her husband’s firm, O’Shea Partners LLP. Julie O’Shea credits her career success to her academic experience at Hamilton. She has served as a dedicated volunteer for Hamilton in the Career Center, Admission, Reunion Gift, Annual Fund, and Alumni Relations Offices. As a first generation college student and a direct descendant of immigrants, Sean O’Shea attended the University of Illinois and Northwestern University Law School, and eventually became a successful trial lawyer and principal partner at O’Shea Partners LLP. The O’Sheas are the parents of five children.
