The Robert Harold and Lydia Mary McGowan Scholarship

The Robert Harold and Lydia Mary McGowan Scholarship was established by Robert H. McGowan, Class of 1971, and his wife Lydia M. McGowan.

This Fund was established by Robert “Bob” H. McGowan, a member of the Class of 1971, and his wife Lydia M. McGowan.

`Originally from Malone, in New York’s North Country, Bob McGowan was active in the Delta Phi fraternity and student government while at Hamilton. A history major, he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and went on to receive a Master’s degree from Indiana University, a J.D. from the University of Maryland School Of Law, and an LL.M. in tax law from the University of Baltimore.

His sophomore, junior, and senior years at Hamilton, Bob received the Charles Dana Prize Scholarship, which recognizes academic achievement, character, and leadership. By creating a scholarship in their own names, Bob and his wife Lydia hope to give back to Hamilton and offer opportunities to new generations of students on College Hill.
