The Megan Robb Scholarship

The Megan Robb Scholarship was established by family, friends and members of the Class of 1993 in memory of Megan Robb.

Margaret “Megan” Robb, Class of 1993, was a Government major at Hamilton College.  At her 25th Reunion in 2018, Megan shared with the Class of 1993 her journey from breast cancer diagnosis to survivor.  It was a story of courage and resilience.  When COVID-19 shut down much of America in the spring of 2020, the Class of 1993 found itself gathering weekly on Zoom.  On one of these calls, Megan shared that she had been diagnosed with metastatic (stage IV) breast cancer. This time, cancer had spread to several areas throughout her body including her liver, ribs, both breasts, and the pleural fluid surrounding her lungs.  Even in the face of such adversity, Megan rarely missed a weekly Zoom and always maintained her razor-sharp wit, tongue-in-cheek humor, and curious disposition. It was this spirit that led her friends and classmates to establish the Megan Robb Scholarship.

The efforts to create this fund were initially kept secret from Megan, and in fewer than three weeks the scholarship was fully funded by over 70 donors, including Megan's two siblings, Bill Robb '96 and Susan (Robb) Macdonald '99.  On December 26, 2020, Megan's freshman roommates from Keehn surprised her with a masked, in-person visit, during which they delivered the news of the fully-funded scholarship.  On December 30, 2020, decked out in pink sparkles, tiaras, and feather boas in honor of Megan, 38 members of the Class of 1993 came together on Zoom to celebrate the New Year and the launch of the Megan Robb Scholarship.  Megan expressed her gratitude for the scholarship during that emotional Zoom call.  Two weeks later, Megan passed away.
