“Because Hamilton” West Coast Scholarship
The “Because Hamilton” West Coast Scholarship was established by an anonymous donor as part of Hamilton Give Day, November 15, 2019.
On November 15, 2019, Hamilton College launched the most ambitious Give Day in the history of fundraising on the Hill. Trustee David Solomon ’84 offered an incentive that he would provide a gift of one million dollars to support a new scholarship if The College raised one million dollars by midnight EST. Donations were tracked by four regions by time zone. The region with the highest number of participants received the naming rights for the new scholarship. The East Coast was the winner.
However, before the close of the campaign, an anonymous donor matched an additional $500,000, and by midnight PST, The West Coast achieved the second-highest participation and naming rights for an additional scholarship.
