The Amy J. Carew Merin '89 and Mitchell M. Merin Scholarship

The Amy J. Carew Merin ’89 and Mitchell M. Merin Scholarship was established in 2012 by Trustee Amy Carew Merin, Class of 1989, and her husband Mitchell M. Merin.


As an undergraduate, Amy majored in international comparative political science, minored in French, founded the campus’ Phi Beta Chi sorority and was a member of the women’s varsity crew team. She began her professional career in Yale University’s Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations as a Development Program Associate. In 1998, she joined the staff at Trinity College before moving on to serve as Strategic Advisor to the Vice President for Advancement at Barnard College for several years. Amy has held several volunteer roles since graduation including as a member of the Alumni Council, Admission and Career Center volunteer and as an Alumni Trustee (2010-14)

Mitch Merin graduated from Trinity College in 1975 and went on to earn an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He began a career in finance at Sears, Roebuck and Co., which eventually became Morgan Stanley, in 1981. He retired in 2005 as President and Chief Operating Officer of the firm’s Investment Management Division. In 1998, his name was included in The Wall Street Journal’s Guide to Who’s Who and What’s What on Wall Street. Mitch has served on Trinity’s Board of Trustees.
