The Dorothy Scott Evans Memorial Scholarship

The Dorothy Scott Evans Memorial Scholarship, established in 1978 in her memory by family and friends, is awarded to a woman matriculating under the Hamilton Horizons Program.


Dorothy Scott Evans was a longtime resident of Clinton, New York, and studied at Hamilton and Kirkland Colleges as well as Syracuse University. In 1944, she married Arthur W. "Art" Evans, Class of 1943. She was a participant and an enthusiastic supporter of the “Kirkland for All Women Program.” She died in 1975.

Art Evans was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity, played varsity hockey, and served as vice-president of his senior class. He also served in the United States Naval Reserve from 1942 to 1945 and then earned his LL.B. degree from Cornell Law School. He practiced law until he died in 2000.
