The Peter C. (Pehr) Huber Scholarship

The Peter C. (Pehr) Huber Scholarship is awarded based on financial need. This fund was established in 1985 by Peter C. (Pehr) Huber, a member of the Class of 1952 and a former Trustee of the College.

Peter C. (Pehr) Huber was born in New York City. In 1948, he matriculated at Hamilton, joined the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity, and majored in geology. His Hamilton experience was interrupted in his junior year when he moved to Germany to serve in the U.S. Air Force. Peter eventually graduated from Hamilton in 1956. He joined his family’s business, a manufacturer of printing inks, chemicals and timber products, and by 1960 had become vice president of finance.

Over the next thirty years, Peter guided the company through exceptional growth. By 1985, he had been appointed vice chairman and chief financial officer, and five years later became executive vice president. Throughout a lifetime of professional accomplishments, he remained loyal to Hamilton. In 1987, he became a Charter Trustee of the College and chairman of the Board’s committee on buildings, grounds, and equipment. Peter died in 1991 at age 61. His son, Eric C. Huber, is a member of the Class of 1984.
