The Vivian B. Allen Foundation Scholarship Fund

The Vivian B. Allen Foundation Scholarship Fund was established in 1968 as gift from Mrs. J. Pope, president of the Vivian B. Allen Foundation, to benefit international students.

This New York State-based foundation, started in 1938 by Vivian B. Allen, was established “to promote the well-being of mankind in the United States of America and elsewhere in the world, including as a means to that end research, publication, the establishment and maintenance of charitable, benevolent, religious and educational activities, agencies and institutions already established.” After Mrs. Allen’s death in 1962, her daughter, Josephine Pope, took over leadership of the Foundation, focusing attention on donations to medical and nursing education, international student assistance, and a few social charities. During the second half of the 1960s, the Foundation started liquidating itself and was legally dissolved in 1971.
