The Bradford Family Scholarship

The Bradford Family Scholarship was established with estate gifts from Jane D. and Ellis ’45 Bradford.

Ellis Bradford graduated from Hamilton with a double major in history and mathematics. In 1947, he married Jane L. Dolan in the College Chapel and they set sail for Ireland so he could attend Trinity College Dublin. Several years later, they returned to the Hill and he took a job in Admissions. After two years crisscrossing New York state recruiting students, he settled on a career in banking. As a vice president and manager for the First National City Bank and later Citibank, Ellis and his family lived in Venezuela, France, Switzerland, Liberia and Manhattan. Hamilton was always in the thoughts and in the hearts of Ellis and Jane Bradford. Their son Geoff, graduated with the Class of 1976, and Ellis and Jane often returned to College Hill together for various occasions until her death in 1993.
