The Clara B. Kennedy Scholarships

The Clara B. Kennedy Scholarships, established in 1997, are awarded with preference given to entering minority students who show promise in terms of their ability to contribute to academic and campus life at Hamilton. The scholarships are renewable. This fund was established by Karen A. and Kevin W. Kennedy, Class of 1970, in honor of Mr. Kennedy’s mother, Clara B. Kennedy.

Clara Banta Kennedy graduated from Smith College in 1945. She married Kevin Kennedy, a Princeton graduate and Manhattan advertising executive. They had four sons, including Kevin W. Kennedy, Jr., Class of 1970.  A Life Trustee of the College, Kevin is Chairman Emeritus having served as Board Chair from 1994 to 2002. Mrs. Clara Kennedy, a noted antique dealer, lives in Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts. Her granddaughter, Caitlin Kennedy, is a member of the Class of 2016.
