The Frank and Mary Lou Owens Scholarship

The Frank and Mary Lou Owens Scholarship is awarded with preference given to students from Clinton, New York, or the Mohawk Valley. This scholarship was established in 2001 by Charter Trustee Amy Owens Goodfriend, Class of 1982, in honor of her parents.

Amy Owens Goodfriend established this scholarship, in her words, “to recognize the support they [her parents] provided” and “to make similar opportunities available to other capable students in the area.” Amy grew up in Clinton, New York, and graduated from Clinton Central Schools in 1978. She was a member of the first co-ed class to graduate from Hamilton. On the Hill, she majored in French, earned varsity letters in track and field hockey, and was a member of the Honor Court.

Amy’s career began with General Foods Corporation. She then attended the Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management and, in 1987, joined Goldman Sachs. She retired from Goldman Sachs 14 years later, having been one of the first women to be elected partner. Amy currently holds the Founder position at Goodfriend Partners, which she established with her husband, banker Sid Goodfriend. In 1999, Amy was elected as a Hamilton Alumni Trustee; in 2003, she was elected a Charter Trustee.
