The Class of 1980-Phyllis Holmes Breland Scholarship

The Class of 1980-Phyllis Holmes Breland Scholarship will provide scholarship assistance to high-need Hamilton students with preference given to those students participating in the College's opportunity programs.

This Fund was established by members of the Class of 1980 upon the celebration of their 40th Reunion and coinciding with the retirement of their classmate Phyllis A. H. Breland from two decades of service to the College.

Phyllis, a theatre major at Hamilton, was the first woman tapped for Pentagon. She returned to Hamilton in 2001 to succeed C. Christine Johnson, the inaugural director of Opportunity Programs. During her 19 years at Hamilton, Phyllis has connected with students from every department, every background, and every area of interest.
