The L. Ronald French '59 Scholarship

The L. Ronald French ’59 Scholarship was established in his memory by his wife, Barbara, and son, John.

Ronald L. French, Class of 1969, credited Hamilton with teaching him to think, write and speak—an excellent preparation for a career in public health research. At Hamilton, Ron majored in anthropology and participated in the French Club, swimming, lacrosse and tennis. He won the McKinney Prize for public speaking in his junior year, chaired the publications board his senior year, and was an active member of the Emerson Literary Society, serving as ELS president his senior year. Ron’s wife and son established the French Scholarship in 2014 to provide an opportunity for academically talented students who might not otherwise be able to afford a Hamilton education.
