The Stuart A. Babcock, M.D. '60 Scholarship

The Stuart A. Babcock, M.D. ’60 Scholarship was established via an estate gift from Dr. Babcock, Class of 1960.


This Fund was established by a Board Resolution with trust distributions from the Estate of Stuart A. Babcock, M.D., Class of 1960.

A native of Cortland, NY, Stuart A. Babcock graduated from Hamilton with a double major in chemistry and biology. During his time on College Hill, he joined Gryphon (fraternal society) and contributed to The Spectator. Dr. Babcock received his medical degree from the University of Rochester, completing his internship at the Bassett Hospital, and serving his residency in pediatrics at Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital. He went on to enlist in the U.S. Navy as a ship physician. Upon completion of a four-year tour, he moved to Miami, FL where he retained a Fellowship in Neonatology at Jackson Memorial Hospital. In 1971, he began his practice in West Palm Beach as a pediatrician and neonatologist at both St. Mary’s and Good Samaritan hospitals. Dr. Babcock supported his alma mater as a volunteer in many roles including on the reunion gift committee and regional committee for the 175th Anniversary Campaign. Additionally, he was actively engaged with many community organizations in Palm Beach County.
