The Thomas and Patricia Puffer Scholarship
The Thomas and Patricia Puffer Scholarship, established by Patricia and Thomas Puffer, Class of 1954, is awarded with preference given to students who are either graduates of the Mercersburg Academy, Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, or residents of San Diego County, California.
After serving in the Marine Corps, and looking for employment, Thomas Puffer, Class of 1954, sought the advice of a friend, Milton Fillius'44, GP'02, also a member of Theta Delta Chi, who recommended him to the San Diego Employers Association. Mr. Puffer was hired and spent his entire career with the organization that negotiates labor contracts and provides human resources support, eventually serving as president and Chairman.
Patricia Puffer was employed with Pan Am Airlines allowing the Puffers to travel extensively, a pastime they both thoroughly enjoy.
