The Daniel R. Murdock Scholarship

The Daniel R. Murdock Scholarship was established in 2001 by Daniel R. Murdock, Class of 1959.

Daniel R. "Scotty" Murdock was born in New York City. He entered Hamilton in 1955, majored in philosophy, and was an active member of the Emerson Literary Society, debate club, College Choir, and The Spectator. Scotty earned a law degree from Harvard in 1962. After serving as a private in the U.S. Army, he resumed his legal career in New York City. When asked what he cherishes most about his time on the Hill, Scotty recalled "fond memories" singing with the College Choir, describing his experience with good-humor: "When I knew, or from the winced expressions of those around me realized, that I was straying from the appointed course, I continued to mouth the words as expressively as I could without emitting further sound."

Scotty served on the College’s Board of Trustees from 1999 to 2003. His sons also graduated from Hamilton; Daniel M. in 1994, and Zane B. in 1999.
