ASU Boba Social

On Thursday, September 10th the annex was buzzing with students eagerly waiting at the door for a selection of Pho Vietnam’s delicious boba and a fun night of socializing at ASU’s much anticipated Boba Social from 8-9pm.

ASU’s Boba Social is a yearly time honored tradition meant to “bring people together in a casual setting over boba so people can connect with and get to know new people on campus!” Many of the participants were freshmen excited to connect with their peers, but others were just students looking for some boba and a good time. 

To prepare for the event, ASU E-board members were tasked with deciding on the boba order, which consisted of Honeydew, Thai Tea, Milk Tea, Taro, and Peach. They also made posters and came up with creative questions to ask the participants. 

ASU members set up chairs facing each other in two rows to create the “speed dating” effect. Students would sit down across from each other, and an ASU member would read out a question. Each participant would introduce themselves and discuss the question until the time was up, when one row would stand up and move one chair down. The first prompt was to share your favorite way to spend a weekend, followed up by sharing your lock screen and other fun prompts. 

The event was a success, and 21 questions later, participants entered a trivia round for extra boba. Some trivia questions included naming the five countries that make up Central Asia, and naming the country that is known as the Land of the Rising Sun. 

  After the trivia, students mingled and chatted amongst themselves while enjoying the rest of the boba.
