ASU X Basketball Club Suicide Prevention Game

October 12, 2026
In recognition of Suicide Prevention Month, ASU and Basketball Club came together on September 28 to honor the life and legacy of their friend Rasikh Shaukat, a Hamilton student who passed away in May 2025. Rasikh is remembered as a deeply involved member of ASU and IM Basketball who touched many people through his warmth, passion, and ability to bring people together; and this event brought the Hamilton community together through one of the activities he loved.
The event began with speeches and a moment of silence, followed by a 3 vs. 3 basketball tournament at the Alumni Gym. Twelve teams participated, bringing friends, teammates, and members of the Hamilton community together for an afternoon of friendly competition and remembrance. One of his friends reflected on the event, saying, “He would’ve loved to see it. This is how he brought people together.”
Through basketball, friendship, and shared memories, the event celebrated Rasikh’s life and the lasting community he helped create at Hamilton, reminding us of the importance of checking in with friends and supporting one another.
If you or someone you know needs support, Hamilton’s Counseling Center is available 24/7 at 315-859-4340 (option 2). You can also call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for free, confidential support 24/7.
