You will explore the rapidly evolving research at the intersection of chemistry and physics. One of Hamilton's newest academic concentrations, the chemical physics major offers you an opportunity to build your knowledge and laboratory skills in both fields. Your classes will be small, and you will have extensive research opportunities.
About the Major
The major is designed with specific students in mind: those interested in teaching science at the high school level and those interested in moving directly into science-based professions after graduation. Majors advance to the intermediate level in both disciplines but will not be required to do theory-level courses in either. The emphasis is on balance, but majors choose to do their advanced laboratory work and senior project in either chemistry or physics.
The mentorship that you get from professors is unique. You get direct access to Ph.D.s who are leaders in their field, who are there because they love teaching, and they want to help you learn and succeed.
