I’m Melissa, and I’m currently a French minor and thinking of doing an interdisciplinary major. My favorite thing about Hamilton is meeting amazing students and professors that transform the way you think. There is not a day that goes by where I’m not intellectually stimulated here. My interests are volunteering, sports, and reading. I enjoy being an FYE leader because I know the difficulty that comes with being a first-year student in college, making me want to help others achieve a smooth transition.
2020-21 FYE Leaders
My name is Charlotte Lewis, and I plan on majoring in creative writing. I love dancing, painting, reading, and spending time with my friends. My favorite spot to hang out and study on campus is in Opus, especially if I order a chocolate chip cookie (warmed up!) or grab brunch on Sunday morning. My favorite part of campus is how welcoming everyone is—making it easy to feel right at home! My goal is to help make the transition to life on the Hill both comforting and exciting, and to help spread all the positive energy that I felt as I first entered campus.
My name is Adrienne Thayaparan. I enjoy baking, crafting, and volunteering. Outside of the classroom, I participate in On the Move, Campus Activities Board (CAB), Emerson Literary Society (ELS), Study Buddies, and Asian Students Union (ASU). I’m also a COOP Service Intern and a part of the Social Innovation Team (SIT).
My name is Ashley Thayaparan and I’m a neuroscience major and a Spanish minor. I enjoy dancing, volunteering, and hanging out with my friends. One of my favorite things about Hamilton are the small class sizes which make it easier to get to know your professors and the students in your class. I like being an FYE leader because going to the events my freshman year was a great way to learn more about the opportunities at Hamilton and meet people I normally wouldn’t have met.
Hi! I am Kayla Ortiz Self. I major in world politics, focusing on Human Rights in the Caribbean. I also minor in both Latin American studies and jurisprudence, law, and justice studies. I hope to do community and movement lawyering and am passionate about making human rights mean something. I love the flexibility in Hamilton’s curriculum as well as the people I have been able to meet. My first year really shaped me at Hamilton and I want to contribute to making others’ first year memorable too.
My name is Maria Zapata. I enjoy reading, watching movies, and hanging out with friends. My favorite thing about Hamilton is the close knit relationship with professors that it offers. I hope you enjoy your time at Hamilton just as much as I have.
