Before the semester ended Hamilton in France students had the chance to visit the U.S. Embassy and meet U.S. Consul for Western France and Hamilton in France alum, James P. Du Vernay ’03.

Before studying abroad, everyone encouraged me to visit the fun, touristy areas of London as well as the historical, local neighborhoods. They advised that I explore London and try to learn more about the culture from its natives, taking advantage of every learning opportunity. When they said to explore London, I don’t think they expected that I’d have the opportunity to marvel at the incredible chambers of the UK House of Lords in a tour led by an actual member of Parliament.

Last autumn, Andres “Fluffy” Aguilar ’19 embarked on an extensive year of study abroad in the Southern Hemisphere. Aguilar, a Gilman Scholarship recipient, spent his junior year studying all across South America, from comparative education studies in Chile and Argentina, to youth popular culture and youth media studies in Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

This summer, Kyra Richardson ’21 joined 23 students from around the world at Osakikamijima island in Japan for a two-week program. The Human Ecology Lab and Island Odyssey (HELIO) focuses on the intersection of human ecology and Japanese higher education. Over 10 days, students participated in workshops, trainings, and hands-on meetings with local communities in Japan.
