  • For Taylor Adams ’11, it really is about the journey and not the destination. “It” for Adams came on May 23 when he conquered Mount Everest and joined an elite club of climbers with type 1 diabetes who have summited Earth’s tallest mountain.

  • During a panel discussion, students heard from three alumni working in the field of policy and political research. Panelists included Ann Dubin ’06, a freelance political researcher and consultant, Marc Pitarresi ’10, a freelance political and communications consultant and researcher, and Cristina Garafola ’11, a research associate at RAND Corp. specializing in Chinese foreign policy.

  • The June issue of the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports (JASREP) contained a special section on landscape archaeology that highlighted the research of several Hamilton faculty and alumni.

  • Noah Ennis ’11 and wife Isabelle Steichen (a Hamilton College French exchange student ’11) will participate in a SwimRun race at Red Top Mountain State Park in Atlanta, Ga.

  • A week after the 2016 Presidential election, The Spectator hosted “The Role of the Media in the 2016 Election,” the final SpecSpeak lecture of the semester. The guest was Scott Bixby ’11 who spent 16 months covering the Republican race to the White House for The Guardian. Bixby has written for several high-profile news organizations including the New Republic, Mic and The Daily Beast .

  • Associate Professor of Chemistry Adam Van Wynsberghe presented an invited seminar titled “Development of a multi-scale sampling methodology to examine the favored ligand binding pathways of influenza neuraminidase” at Union College on May 12.

  • Associate Professor of Chemistry Myriam Cotten gave an invited seminar presentation at the University of Maryland (Shady Grove) on March 24. Her talk titled “Bridging Structure, Dynamics, and Function in Antimicrobial Peptides: Insights from Studying Piscidin” focused on her ongoing research on how antimicrobial peptides recognize and kill bacteria.

  • Students in the Hamilton College Program in Washington, D.C. attended an informative media panel hosted by George Baker ’74 and Frank Vlossak ’89 of the Williams and Jensen law firm on Oct. 30. The panel included Hamilton D.C. area alumni who work in the fast-paced field of D.C. media and journalism.
