  • The Hamilton in NYC program heard from Hannah Davis, a designer with SCAPE, a landscape architectural firm that seeks “to create positive change in communities by combining regenerative living infrastructure and new forms of public space.”

  • The Hamilton in NYC program visited the offices of the Municipal Art Society of New York, a non-profit advocacy organization that focuses on “the betterment of our city” on Feb. 21. (www.mas.org).

  • The Hamilton in NYC program enjoyed a guest presentation from Richard Simon, director of the Wildlife Unit of New York City Parks on Feb. 14. His talk was titled "Raising Wildlife Awareness in New York City," in which he discussed the controversies and challenges to managing residents' expectations of their interactions with wildlife.

  • The Hamilton in NYC program continued its exploration of urban ecology on Feb. 7 with a guest presentation from Andrea Townsend, Hamilton assistant professor of biology. Townsend, whose research deals with urban bird ecology, gave a talk titled "The Urban Exploiter: what makes an urban animal?"

  • The Hamilton in NYC Program is off to a busy and exciting start. On Jan. 31, the group met with David Maddox, founder and director of the Nature of Cities, “an international platform to share diverse, transformative ideas about cities as ecosystems of people, nature, and infrastructure.”

  • The New York City Program had the opportunity to visit the headquarters of media giant Bloomberg on Dec. 11 and were hosted by Hamilton alumnus Scott Havens ’95 who is the company’s global head of digital.

  • Students participating in the New York City Program volunteered at the Bowery Mission on Dec. 2, and got the opportunity to assist in serving food to hundreds of needy New Yorkers. The Bowery staff was very welcoming and appreciative of the group’s assistance.

  • Participants in Hamilton’s fall 2017 New York City Program recently had the opportunity to experience a docent-led tour through one of the world’s most celebrated art collections, The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

  • Students in the Program in New York City recently attended Amateur Night at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem and the show did not disappoint the first-time Apollo Theatre goers. The experience was instantly engaging as it showcased aspiring entertainers from all walks of life and the crowd was the one deciding their fate. At Amateur Night, the audience votes for who will become the next Apollo Theatre legend based on the loudness of their cheers (or boos).
