Assistant Professor of Biology Natalie Nannas along with collaborators at the University of Georgia recently won a four-year National Science Foundation Grant for a project titled "Rebuilding a kinesin-based meiotic drive system from defined component."

The Hamilton Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa is pleased to announce the election of the following nine members of the class of 2020: Tyler Boudreau, Claire Curran, Lindsey Foster, Chengqi Guo, Elisabeth Howard, Ashley Huntington, Amar Kassim, Bennett Morrison, and Caroline Sullivan.

The late Bob Simon, professor of philosophy and longtime golf coach, and the Bob Simon Golf Center named in his honor, are featured in the September, 2019 issue of Golf Range Magazine.

The Hamilton Outing Club (HOC) recently welcomed a fresh batch of newly certified leaders to the community. Twenty-two students began their training on the morning of Sept.14 in the Glen House. This past weekend, many of these new leaders completed the second half of their certification with the completion of a Wilderness First Aid (WFA) class. After doing so, they are ready to get out into the wilderness and bring students from all over the community with them.

“The effects of body mass on immune cell concentrations of mammals,” led by Assistant Professor of Biology Cynthia Downs, was recently published online by The American Naturalist.

Stand-up comedian and writer Selena Coppock ’02 will moderate “30 Rock” producer and star Tina Fey’s appearance at Hamilton. Fey will be the next guest in the Sacerdote Great Names series on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m., in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House.

Shelley Haley, the Edward North Chair of Classics and professor of Classics and Africana Studies, was recently elected president-elect of the Society for Classical Studies (SCS) for 2020. Her term begins in January.

Following Hamilton’s participation in the Global Climate Strike last Friday, more than 50 faculty, staff, and students gathered Monday for Conversations on the Climate Crisis gathered around topic tables in Fillius Events Barn.
