  • Jennifer Whitman ’10 has been awarded a Fulbright grant to China. Through her project, she will work with faculty at the University of Sichuan Law School in Chengdu, China, to examine Chinese legal aid for female migrant workers. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers fellowships for U.S. graduating college seniors, graduate students, young professionals and artists to study abroad for one academic year.

  • Assistant Dean of Faculty for Institutional Research Gordon Hewitt was recently elected to the Higher Education Data Sharing (HEDS) board of directors.

  • Senior Art Show 2010, a presentation of works created by 10 art majors, will open at the Emerson Gallery on Friday, April 30. An opening reception will be held from 4-6 p.m. The exhibition runs through Saturday, May 22, and is free and open to the public. Families of graduating seniors are invited to attend the graduation reception on May 22, from 1-3 p.m. 

  • Tracy Mitrano, the director of IT Policy and Computer Policy and Law Programs for the Office of Information Technologies at Cornell University, will give the Couper Phi Beta Kappa Lecture on Thursday, April 29, at 4:10 p.m., in the Science Center Kennedy Auditorium. Her lecture is titled “Copyright Conundrums: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow” and is free and open to the public.

  • On April 26, Ambassador William Luers ’51, Linowitz Professor and keynote speaker, joined Ambassador Edward Walker Jr. ’62 and Professor Alan Cafruny for a discussion on U.S.-Iranian relations. Ambassador Luers provided an alternative view on U.S. relations with Iran that centered on more constructive communication rather than the accusatory and uncompromising policy currently employed.

  • Hamilton was well represented at the annual Utica Marsh clean-up on April 26. The Hamilton contingent focused on one part of the marsh, that near Dousharm Ave. The group collected many bags of trash and even found and moved an abandoned boat.
