  • Warm sunny weather and beautiful fall foliage made for an unforgettable fall break for members of the Hamilton Outing Club. The short vacation saw Outing Club trips hiking in the Adirondacks and sea kayaking in the Atlantic off the coast of Maine while other members used the break to tackle personal outdoors challenges throughout the Northeast.

  • As a part of the new Alex Talks during family weekend, Assistant Professor of Chemistry Farah Dawood presented “Nanotechnology: Small Building Blocks that lead to Big Ideas.” Dawood began by giving the audience an idea about just how small a nanoparticle is in comparison to daily objects. A nanoparticle is 1 billionth the size of a meter, and can be seen using advanced microscopy.

  • As the bright sun beat down on campus on a cloudless October day, the students of College 236: The Culture and Politics of Food were hard at work on the community farm, bringing in a plentiful harvest.

  • Maurice Isserman, the Publius Virgilius Rogers Professor of American History, was a member of a panel at the Oregon Cartoon Institute’s Underground USA symposium on Oct. 15.

  • Associate Professor of Chemistry Adam Van Wynsberghe presented his research group’s work as part of the Syracuse University chemistry department’s seminar series on October 4.

  • While most students traveled back home for Fall break, 40 students interested in careers in finance stayed on campus to take part in a Wall Street preparation workshop organized by the Career and Life Outcomes Center. The program provided a detailed, albeit rigorous, introduction to financial statements modeling and valuation.

  • In 2009, Dave Stone ’88 ran the Boston Marathon—his first marathon—in memory of his brother, Ralph ’80, who was murdered in 1997. Since then, he has dedicated nine more marathons to his brother. He just completed his tenth and final one in their hometown of Syracuse.
