The Hamilton College Performing Arts Series presents Trio Hochelaga on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m., in Wellin Hall.

Mr. DX, Steve Lucchetti '12, was crowned Mr. Hamilton 2012 during the FebFest contest on Feb. 15 in the Fillius Events Barn.  First runner-up was John Whitney '12 (Mr. DU),  and second runner up was Mr. Heat, Dyllon Young '15.

The Hamilton College Arboretum Association will present a free workshop, The Art of Bonsai, on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 10 a.m. to noon, in the Kennedy Auditorium, Taylor Science Center (GO27).  The workshop is open to the public and pre-registration is requested by calling (315) 859-4657.

“It’s been more than 10 years since I started worrying that life was out of balance,” began David Levy, professor at the Washington University Information School. In a world characterized by information overload, fragmentation and busyness, Levy said that students today often find that there’s “no time to think” – no time to breathe, listen and engage with life.

Hamilton’s Mock Trial team continued to have a successful season, finishing fourth at the Buffalo, N.Y., regional tournament held Feb. 10 - 12. With an overall record of 7-1, the team earned a bid to compete in the Opening Round Championship Series in Hamilton, Ohio, on March 23 - 25. Maggie McGuire ’15 and Ian Carradine ’15 won Outstanding Witness awards, demonstrating the depth of the team’s talent.

Margaret Bundy Scott Professor of Comparative Literature Nancy Sorkin Rabinowitz published “Greek Tragedy: A Rape Culture?” in the 2011 edition of the online journal Eugesta.

Hamilton varsity athletes make up one- third of the student body. On Monday night, they and the rest of the Athletic Department gathered in Wellin Hall at the behest of Athletic Director Jon Hind ’80.

FebFest, Hamilton’s annual winter carnival, celebrated Valentine’s Day with a chocolate tasting in Sadove Student Center living room on Feb. 14. Students piled their plates with chocolate mousse, chocolate cheesecake and other decadent desserts. They also had the opportunity to decorate Valentine’s Day cards for their sweethearts.

The Hamilton College Performing Arts Series presents The Jazz Urbane on Friday, Feb. 17, at 8 p.m., in Wellin Hall.  For this event, the audience will be seated on stage for a jazz club-like setting.

For students in the Semester in Washington Program, variety is the spice of political life. A diverse group of these students—conservative, liberals and the curious—chose to attend the  39th annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) that took place February 9-11.
