Students in the Hispanic Studies Latin American film course (HSPT 323/423) recently visited the George Eastman Museum, in Rochester, N.Y., home to an important celluloid film collection. They viewed key works in the George Eastman archives and toured climate-controlled celluloid vaults.

For the second year, Hamilton students served as mentors to Clinton Middle School students who are participating in Olympics of the Visual Arts (OVA).  OVA is a state-wide competition where middle schoolers have the opportunity to participate in longer term art projects outside of the classroom.

Having lobbied for the retention of Alexander Hamilton’s image on the $10 bill, Hamilton College is pleased with today’s announcement by U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew. The College, which is named for the first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury who also served as its first trustee, also supports Secretary Lew’s intent to add illustrious women in U.S. history on the $10 bill and to honor Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill.

Associate Professor of Government Sharon Werning Rivera recently published an article titled “Is Russia Too Unique to Learn from Abroad? Elite Attitudes on Foreign Borrowing and the West, 1993-2012” in Sravnitel’naya politika (Comparative Politics).

Writer and comedian Jenny Yang began her April 20 lecture by playing a modified game of “Heads Up, 7 Up” to get a sense of the crowd in the Red Pit. She started with general questions like class year, and asked attendees to cover their eyes as she asked more sensitive questions, including financial aid status and families’ academic backgrounds.

Robert Jensen, professor of business economics and public policy at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, will present a lecture titled “Understanding Gender Bias in the Developing World” on Thursday, April 21, at 7 p.m., in the Chapel. The lecture is sponsored by the Levitt Center and is free and open to the public.

Although the Iroquois are known for many things, one particular source of pride is their history of oral tradition. On April 19 members of the Hamilton community experienced storytelling and political commentary from Bear Clan elder and leader of the Mohawk Community of Kanatsiohareke, Tom Porter, or Sakokwenionkwas -- “The One Who Wins.”

John Liebman ’18 was selected as a delegate to the China Leadership Summit, a student-run conference co-hosted by Duke and North Carolina Universities.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology Azriel Grysman was the co-author of articles published recently in the journals Memory and Memory & Cognition. The articles report results research on gender and memory, conducted with his colleagues at Emory University.

To celebrate NCAA Division III Week, Hamilton’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted a mini-golf event in the Field House on April 10. More than 100 students  along with faculty and staff and their families participated.
