An interview with Professor of Art History Scott MacDonald was recently included on a Columbia University Press blog that features a series of Black History Month posts exploring the Black experience.

The fall 2019 F.I.L.M. (Forum on Image and Language in Motion) series concludes on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m., with a screening of Dominic Gagnon’s Going South (2018).

Photographer and filmmaker Sharon Lockhart will visit the F.I.L.M. series on Wednesday, Nov. 20, to present an artist’s talk and her most recent film, Rudzienko at 4:15 p.m. in the Bradford Auditorium, KJ.

The next F.I.L.M. (Forum on Image and Language in Motion) series event will feature The Goddess, a 1934 Chinese silent film about a young woman trapped in the sex trade.

The fall F.I.L.M. series continues this weekend with a special two-part presentation of Paul Cronin’s A Time to Stir. The screenings will take place in the Bradford Auditorium, KJ, and are free and open to the public.

Cinema Sarah Lawrence Director Jay Craven will visit the F.I.L.M. (Forum on Image and Language in Motion) series to present a work-in-progress rough-cut of sections of a new film, Martin Eden.

Co-directors Pawel Wojtasik and John Bruce will present their new feature film, End of Life, on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. in the Bradford Auditorium, KJ.

The 2019 fall F.I.L.M. series opens with the Alloy Orchestra in their final visit to Hamilton. They will provide live accompaniment for Buster Keaton’s The General (1926) and Fritz Lang’s Metropolis (1927).

Professor of Art History Scott MacDonald' s book The Sublimity of Document: Cinema as Diorama, featuring interviews with avant-garde filmmakers, was recently published by Oxford University Press.
