Three Hamilton students who developed a Home Energy Assessment Tool (H.E.A.T.) won the grand prize at the eighth annual Pitch Competition. The team of Anna Mowat ’18, Ash Kahn ’17 and Leo Kell ’17 generated an algorithm, accessible by smartphone app, with a 90% accuracy rate. The formula helps homeowners reduce their energy bill without hiring inspectors.

The Hamilton Microfinance Group attended The Commercialization Academy's Demo Day hosted by the ThINCubator in downtown Utica on Oct. 26. Students watched seven tech-startups pitch to a panel of judges and the audience. Two winners were selected for $20,000 cash prize each.

The sixth Entrepreneurship Workshop and Pitch Competition for current students and Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) took place from April 8-10. Nile Berry ’14 won first place pitching his Brooklyn-based company, Marvel Vision, a creative content studio which uses drone technology to produce aerial analytics.

Sam Matlick’s first place win in the college’s fourth annual pitch competition in October 2013 was impressive, but it pales when compared with his first place finish in the Salt City Shark Tank, the YPO/WPO (Young Presidents Organization/World Presidents Organization) state-wide competition.
