The students participating in Hamilton’s Program in New York City recently had the opportunity to tour the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

“It’s a Google and two clicks to get to the [Bon Appétit] menu,” Chris Lee ’16 noted, “and that’s just annoying.” Lee, a computer science major, isn’t being lazy; he understands that in the age of smartphones, convenience often determines usefulness. With this in mind, Hamilton App, available on both the App Store and the Play Store, aims to “centralize information to one useful app for the benefit of students, alumni, faculty and staff.”

The Hamilton College Choir presents the home concert of their recently completed Spring Break Tour on Friday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.

Kimberly Williams, associate director of the Days-Massolo Center, presented an interactive workshop about “Advocating for the Intersectional Student” during the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS) conference held March 14-18 in Copenhagen.

Hamilton Reads started anew this semester at two local schools, Westmoreland Elementary and Rome Elementary.

The French government has promoted Professor of French John C. O'Neal  to the rank of commandeur in the Ordre des Palmes Académiques (the Order of the French Academic Palms), the highest rank in this order, founded by Napoleon in 1808.

Justin Long ’16 has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Thailand. Long, a linguistics interdisciplinary studies major, studied in Ecuador during his junior year.

Oceanographer Robert Ballard, best-known for his work in underwater archaeology and historic discoveries including the Titanic, will give a lecture on Wednesday, March 30, at 7:30 p.m., in the Chapel. The lecture, titled “Ocean Exploration: Past, Present and Future,” is free and open to the public and will be sign-interpreted. Ballard discussed his upcoming Hamilton lecture on Northeast Public Radio WAMC on March 28.

With graduation approaching, it may seem unusual that two senior economics majors have organized a trip to New York City for underclass students to meet with alumni executives at various financial institutions. Ramon Villalona and Rashveena Rajaram, co-presidents of Hamilton’s Finance Club, plan to expand their classmates’ vision of their career options  and assist them in making contacts  during this day-long event. 

Hamilton’s Levitt Leadership Institute (LLI) students spent their first week of spring break discovering how to be passionate, flexible and persistent in Washington, D.C. As organizers and participants in sessions with both governmental and non-profit organization leaders, they had the opportunity to demonstrate their newly acquired leadership skills.
