Several Hamilton College athletes took part in an athletic panel discussion on Nov. 19 at Clinton High School. Hamilton provided lunch and five athletes talked to interested CCS students about playing varsity sports in college, how to balance academics, and a bit about how recruiting works.

Hamilton a capella group Duelly Noted recently took second place in an a capella competition fundraiser for Herkimer High School’s Drama Department. The co-ed group that was founded in 2008 also won the award for best stage presence.

Hamilton’s Program in Washington, D.C. recently met former six-term Delaware Congressman Mike Castle ’61 at his DC office of DLA Piper. DLA Piper is a global law firm with lawyers located in more than 30 countries. Castle also served as Delaware’s governor for two terms.

A children’s literary prize named for Jean D’Costa, the Leavenworth Professor of English emerita, was recently presented during the inaugural Lignum Vitae Writing Awards at the National Gallery of Jamaica. D’Costa taught at Hamilton from 1980 to 1998.

Assistant Professor of Mathematics Courtney Gibbons was the co-organizer of a special session at the Fall Eastern Sectional Meeting of the American Mathematical Society (AMS). The annual meeting, held Nov. 14-15, was hosted by Rutgers University.
