Derek Jones, the Irma M. and Robert D. Morris Professor of Economics, recently presented research at a conference on “What Does Co-Determination Do? What Can We Learn from Research?” The event took place at the Berlin Social Science Center on June 11.
In “The Productivity Effects of Worker Representation on the Board,” Jones discussed a study conducted with Associate Professor of Economics Jeffrey Pliskin.
Using data for three industries, they examined the effect of worker representation on the board of directors and the effect of profit sharing on productivity. They also looked at whether there are synergies between worker directors and profit sharing, and their effects on business performance.
