Four Hamilton College faculty members were awarded Hamilton’s highest awards for teaching by Dean of Faculty Ngoni Munemo. Announced during the May 6 faculty meeting, those honored were selected from among 47 nominations received from 80 students.

After almost two decades leading the Hamilton College athletic department, Director of Athletics Jon Hind '80 has announced his retirement effective April 30.

Designer, Artist Bruce Mau to Give Commencement Address

Designer and artist Bruce Mau, the co-founder and CEO of Massive Change Network, a global design consultancy in the Chicago area, will deliver Hamilton’s 2025 Commencement address and receive an honorary degree on Sunday, May 25, at 10:30 a.m., in Margaret Bundy Scott Field House.

  • Dean of Faculty Ngoni Munemo recognized nine faculty members with Dean’s Scholarly Achievement Awards in three categories — career achievement, early career achievement, and notable year — at the May 6 faculty meeting.

  • At Hamilton’s annual Class & Charter Day convocation on May 13, 142 students were honored with academic prizes and scholarships, and faculty teaching award recipients were recognized. Delbert “Del” Gonzalez ’25 was awarded the James Soper Merrill Prize, and Mohammad “Isa” Khan ’26 received the Fillius Drown Prize Scholarship. Associate Professor of Philosophy Justin Clark served as the keynote speaker.

  • In an email to the Hamilton community on May 12, President Steven Tepper shared that William H. Luers ’51, GP’14, one of this nation’s most distinguished foreign service officers and the former president of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, died on May 10 at the age of 95. Luers was the recipient of a Hamilton honorary degree in 1984, served as the Sol. M. Linowitz Professor of International Affairs in 2010, and was a regular visitor to campus, especially later in his career and after retiring from the Met in 1999.
