The glens of Hamilton College are poised to receive national attention through Assistant Professor of Biology Peter Guiden’s new project funded by a $500,000 National Science Foundation grant. Alongside Associate Professor of Biology Andrea Townsend and Northern Illinois University’s Holly Jones, Guiden seeks to untangle the complex relationships between deer and rodents that could be shaping our forests.

The Levitt Center Justice Lab has received a $350,000 grant from the Winston Foundation. The funds will support the further development of this lab, a semester-long program in which students engage with public policy and intern within the local community.

The Mellon Foundation has awarded Hamilton College a $750,000 grant to establish a program in American Indian and Indigenous Studies (AIIS).

Associate Professor of Sociology Jaime Kucinskas and Associate Professor of Environmental Studies Aaron Strong were awarded a National Science Foundation grant from the Sociology Program. Under the five-year $346,149 grant, they will study rural community perceptions of climate action pathways in New York, New Zealand, and Sweden.

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) recently awarded Hamilton College a $150,000 grant for a new curricular effort that will connect students and faculty with four regional cultural institutions, as well as the College’s Wellin Museum of Art and Burke Library’s Special Collections.

Hamilton College and 13 other institutions have been awarded a $8.05 million grant by the Howard Hughes Medical Institution (HHMI). as part of HHMI’s Inclusive Excellence 3 (IE3) initiative titled “Increasing Capacity to Support Equitable and Inclusive Learning Environments for Introductory-level STEM Students across the LCC2 Learning Community.”
