Dr. Edgardo Yordán Humanities Faculty Research Grant

This grant supports faculty whose Humanities research project will contribute toward the beginning of a new scholarly project, advancing a current project to make it more competitive for external funding, or the completion of a project for dissemination. Recipients submit a final report and present their research the following academic year on campus and/or at local public institutions. This grant is made possible through a generous gift from Jaime Yordán ’71 in honor of his father, Dr. Edgardo Yordán.

Important Details

Eligibility: Tenured, tenure track faculty, post-docs, POI, and VAP may apply so long as the recipient plans to teach at Hamilton in the upcoming academic year.
Funding Amount: Up to $5,000 for use in the upcoming academic year. Funding may be used in combination with other external grants or regular support from the College.
Deadline: April/May
Final Reports and Presentations: Awardees will submit final reports on the results of the research and how the funds were used. Recipients are expected to present their research in the Humanities Salon or at a local institution.

Please submit a recent CV, one page research proposal, budget, and budget justification to Michele Witt at mwitt@hamilton.edu.

Research Proposal

The proposal should articulate the objectives and goals of the project and anticipated outcome by the end of the award period whereas the budget justification should include all other sources of funding that will support the project, if any. Grant funds may be used.

Budget/Budget Justification

Proposals need not include an itemized budget at this time; include a general statement in the budget justification of how the funds will be spent, such as travel to an archive, research library, research site, special collections, etc.

Please disclose all current funding sources for this project. If you already hold funding for this or a related project, explain how this fellowship will specifically enable further development. Please also indicate in your budget justification if you have been a past recipient of the Yordán fellowship.

Recipients may elect to accept the award as a flat payment, which requires no itemized expenses but is subject to income taxes. Or the award can be reimbursement for itemized research expenses, which are not taxed.
