Foreman Grant

The Foreman Grant encourages at least two faculty or staff members from different disciplines to develop interdisciplinary collaborative thinking, teaching, and research projects on a common or interconnected theme. Applicants are expected to draw from current research or develop new areas of research that can inform new or revised courses. Recipients are expected to submit a final report and present their research the following academic year.

Important Details

Eligibility: Tenured, tenure-track faculty, post-docs, POI, visiting assistant professors, and staff may apply so long as the recipient plans to teach at Hamilton in the upcoming academic year.
Funding Amount: Up to $4,000 for use in the coming academic year. Please disclose all current funding sources for this project. If you already hold funding for this or a related project, explain how this fellowship will specifically enable further development.
Deadline: End of May
Final Reports and Presentations: Awardees will submit final reports on the results of the research and how the funds were used. Recipients are also expected to present their research in the following Fall or Spring semester at the Humanities Salon or at a local institution.

Research Proposal

Project proposals should be submitted by at least two faculty or staff members from different disciplines. They should outline a plan that engages the college community in at least one public forum to develop critical approaches to a common or interconnected theme. Proposals should describe how the project:

Draws from current research or develops new areas of research;
Produces a public Humanities event, such as a workshop; and/or
Invites outside scholars to give talks to the College community, meet with classes, and/or with interested faculty and staff.

Budget/Budget Justification

Proposals should include an itemized budget of up to $4,000. Please disclose all current funding sources for this project. If you already hold funding for this or a related project, explain how this fellowship will specifically enable further development.

Collaborations may include faculty from outside of the Humanities and staff with advanced expertise in a relevant field. The research budget may include funding for travel or stipends for participants in faculty seminars. The HCAC especially encourages projects that highlight the importance of Humanities in the current moment.
