Hamilton’s Student Fellowships Coordinator will work with you to identify and apply for nationally and internationally competitive opportunities.
International Summer Research Funding
This new program is designed to support second- and third-year Hamilton students who wish to conduct summer research outside the United States in locations such as universities, government agencies, museums, archives, art galleries, archaeological and historical sites, research libraries, laboratories, and field sites.
Recent Award Recipients

Lydia Rono ’11 has been awarded a Davis Peace Project Fellowship program grant of $10,000. Through her project, titled Education for Peace, she hopes to build one secondary school classroom and one rest room in Barekeiwo Village in Kenya, thus qualifying Barekeiwo High School for Kenyan government educational funding. This would supplement the one classroom and one staff room already built by the community.

Hamilton seniors Kevin Rowe and Max Wall have been awarded prestigious Thomas J. Watson Fellowships for 2010-11. Rowe’s project is titled “Farm to Table: New World Cities and the Changing Landscape of Cuisine” and Wall’s is “Preserving Cultures: Exploring Fermented Foodways.” The two were among only 40 national winners of the Fellowships. This year, 150 finalists competed on the national level, after their institutions nominated them in the autumn. Each fellow receives $25,000 for a year of travel and exploration outside the U.S.

Greg Casey, a candidate for May graduation from Hamilton, has been awarded a Fulbright Grant to Jamaica. This grant will enable him to complete the MSc program in economic development policy at the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies at the University of West Indies in Mona, Jamaica.

Phillip Milner '10 has been named a Barry M. Goldwater Scholar for the 2009-10 academic year. Milner is among 278 scholars from across the U.S. to receive the Goldwater, the premier national undergraduate award in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences and engineering.

Caroline Davis '11 and Laura Gault '11 have been awarded a Davis Peace Project Fellowship program grant of $10,000. Their joint project is titled "Empowering the Hadzabe as Agents of Peace: Health for Cultural Preservation."

Mary Daphne Kostakopoulos, a candidate for May graduation from Hamilton College, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to Turkey. She is a communication and French major at Hamilton.

Ethan R. Woods '09 has been awarded the College's prestigious Bristol Fellowship. Woods' proposal is titled "A Culinary Journey: Recipes through an Economic-Historic Lens." The Bristol Fellowship was begun in 1996 as part of a gift to Hamilton College by William M. Bristol Jr., '17. Created by his family, the fellowship is designed to encourage Hamilton students to experience the richness of the world by living outside the United States for one year and studying an area of great personal interest.

Marie Piayai, a candidate for May graduation from Hamilton College, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to Thailand. Piayai is a world politics major at Hamilton.

Peter Mallozzi, a candidate for May graduation from Hamilton College, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to Indonesia, where he will teach English.
